Senate Meeting Minutes
April 9, 2008

President Simpson:
He asked Senate to look over his recommendations for the City Council. He is meeting with the City Council on Tuesday at 6:30 concerning communication between students and city leadership. President Simpson believes this should become a permanent job within the SGA and also asks the student media to make contributions.
Executive VP Toles:
He announced that thus far there has been 756 votes total and voting will be open until Thursday morning and will be posted outside of the SAC around Thursday evening. The banquet will be April 23rd at 6:30 in the Ballroom.
VP of Academic Affairs Kelly:

VP of Finance Grubbs:
FAC has run out of funds! No more FAC!
VP of Auxiliary Affairs Stinson:
VP Stinson passed out surveys about wearing stoles at graduation. This idea is opposed by the administration because the ceremony should be strictly about academics. She also met with Tom Palfy and it is official that Centennial Place will have a Quizno’s, a Coldstone, an optical store, and a clothing store. Auxiliary services committee will have a meeting after the banquet. And it is official that there will be a “GSU” restaurant instead of a chain restaurant filling the space of Hard Drive Café.
Publicity Coordinator Brown:
The SGA website will be revamped over summer by hired webmasters. She then asked for any suggestions for the website. Senators mentioned: a get to know your Senator section where you can directly e-mail them, a sections for the House, section for: ShuttleGus, Events, Past Resolutions, updated page where student will know what SGA is doing at the time, “Ask the Dean” (for each college) page, FAQ’s. Senators asked if the website could look more like the official GSU website.
New Business:

Old Business:
The support for an Union Fee was voted on, if the Senate would approve a “Student Union Fee” added to tuition costs to help pay for a new Student Union.
